NUGGETS🐣

Say less.

Don’t force it.

You’re doing too much.

Phrases I heard habitually growing up that have most likely pushed me toward minimalism. I can always sense when something feels overworked, but I’ve never felt too strongly about something being too simple. Put a single dot on a canvas and I’ll be blown away. Since picking up Blender 3D software, I’ve gravitated toward “low-poly” art, not only because of the simplistic aesthetic but because functionally it uses much less processing power to create versus high-poly art. The limited shapes force me to abstract my ideas into a bare-bones representation of whatever object or narrative I aim to convey. A couple art influences you'll see in this issue are my friends Ruben Cantu and Laila Cola Weeks. Ruben’s minimalistic approach to storytelling using modular materials, and Laila’s functional approach to design as a seamstress have greatly influenced my developing aesthetic as a 3D artist.
